An Attitude of Gratitude

This week I have been meditating on being thankful. I have so much to be thankful for, especially the great healing that the Lord is doing in me. God is so merciful and so faithful, it makes me want to weep when I think of His great kindness to me.

Thankfulness is a choice we make to focus on the positive things in our lives. There will always be negative things, but we give power to what we focus on. Phillipians 4:8 says "Whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report- if anything is of virtue or praiseworthy, meditate on these things."

Cultivating an attitude of gratitude opens the doors of God's abundance to flow to us. Whenever we think on negative things, when we are not appreciative, when we are critical, we shut the flow. Appreciating the little things in everyday life: like finding a convenient parking spot, or not having the electricity go out during a storm, or finding a twenty dollar bill on the street or even a penny for that matter. These are all signs of the Lord's great love for us.

What do you have to be thankful for today? Are you focusing on the blessings in your life? Even if you are going through a difficult time or things did not work out the way you expected them to, it is still possible to be thankful because we know that "God causes all things to work for the good to those who love Him" (Rom 8:28).

Be of good cheer. For God, the Holy One of the Universe, has got your back today. Make time to give Him thanks and see how much better you'll feel.
