Walking by Faith

This past holiday weekend I had the opportunity to pray for an elderly gentleman who had just had eye surgery. As I prayed for healing, the scripture verse came to me that "we walk by faith and not by sight." (2 cor 5:7). While praying for the gentleman, the Lord reminded me of this truth which is so contrary to what the world says: "seeing is believing".

What does it mean to walk by faith and not by sight? Hebrews 11:1 says "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." In other words, we must believe that our dreams, desires, and changes will come true in the future even if we don't see them manifested today.

We know that God is always working, even though we may not see any evidence of it. Why? Because God works on the hearts of his people and it takes time for the inward changes to work their way to outward behavior.

What is it that you are believing for, dear one? Is it a job, a spouse, a loved one to turn to God? Whatever you are hoping for remember Ps. 37:4 which encourages us to "Delight ourselves in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our heart."

Until next time, walk by faith and keep looking up!
