How to See More Miracles in Your Life

What is it that you want to see transformed in your life? Have you given up on that dream? Perhaps you've uttered the phrase "It's going to take a miracle." Well, some things do, so today we are going to talk about miracles and how to see more of them show up in our lives.

Miracles are not just a thing of the movies and imaginary cartoon characters. Miracles are REAL. In fact, they happen everyday. We just don't hear about them as much because the media is fascinated with negativity, the horrific, and the hideous. For some odd reason, people are drawn to negativity. Or we attribute them to "coincidence". No, recognize that God is doing something supernatural in your life.

Personal Testimony
So who am I to write on miracles? I feel qualified to write on this topic because I've had several of them occur in my life. Pick up a copy of my book "The Power of Faith" and check them out. In fact, I've had several more occur since writing that book including another miraculous healing, a restoration of a close family relationship that was severed, and financial provision. God is still in the miracle working business. So what it is that we can do to help things along?

First, let me remind us all that it is God's will that we prosper and be in good health. See 3 John 1:2.  There are many verses in the Bible that talk about having abundance, joy, peace, love, and healing. All of these are available to us at any time in our lives and here are some steps YOU can take to see them start happening NOW!

1. BELIEVE you deserve good things.
It all starts with having FAITH. No matter how many mistakes or poor choices we have made in the past, we can start today with a clean slate. When we turn to God, ask forgiveness and ask Jesus to help us, the windows of heaven begin to swing open wide. All good things come from God, not "the Universe" or by the law of attraction as some would have you believe. I am not going to debate these other philosophies; this is a Christian blog and I write from a Christian world-view where God and I are a team.

2. Get crystal clear.
I think one reason many of us don't move forward in life is because we are not clear on what we really want. Once we get clear and have a vision, God can go to work. But if we are unclear, doubtful, or wishy-washy, God waits on us to get clear.

Like when I was house-hunting. I wasn't sure at first exactly what I wanted in a new home. Even though God presented the ideal home to me right from the get-go, I still had to think and rethink it. I spent weeks with realtors visiting other options until I realized the first option was exactly what I wanted and needed after all. Silly me.

3. Claim the promise.
Once we get clear, then we can start claiming the promise and by that I mean speaking out what it is that we want to show up in our lives. For example, if we want to be healed, we can claim Jeremiah 30:17 which says "But I will restore health to you and heal your wounds, says the Lord" or Mark 5:34 "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering." There is power in our words and in the words of Scripture. Instead of saying things like "I'm going to end up in the poorhouse" or "I'll never be able to..." start speaking out words of faith regarding whatever miracle you want to see happen. This is an expression of faith and faith pleases God.

4. Take action.
We cannot sit idly by and wait for things to happen. We must take personal responsibility and do our part. Whatever it is, take the first step. Read that book. Take that class. Go to the gym. Get that degree. Whatever is in your power to do - like Nike says - "Just do it!" Slowly but surely we will make progress towards our miracle.

5. Trust God to do the impossible.
Often, situations look impossible and hopeless. We cannot see clearly how to resolve them or what to do next. These are the situations God specializes in. Does the medical report sound hopeless? Does your relationship seem doomed? Has your job ended? What seem like endings are really new beginnings when we have faith to envision a brighter tomorrow. Whatever God brings us to, God will bring us through. This is what is called Grace and it is amazing.

So there we have 5 steps to seeing more miracles in our lives. Give them a try and let me know how things turn out. You will not be disappointed. Sometimes God answers prayers in different ways from what we expect, so be open to his answer in whatever form it shows up in.

How to Move the Mountains in Your Life

You've probably heard the verse that goes "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains". We all have been given a certain amount of faith so most of us probably have enough faith to move the mountains in our lives. My question for you today is "What mountain do you need moved?"

Regardless of what spiritual path you may be following, we all have faith in something and we all have mountains - obstacles - that we would like to see moved. Today, I am going to share a key component to seeing obstacles moved that few of us put to use.

What do you do when there is something standing in your way that is preventing you from moving forward in a certain area of life? Do you pray and get discouraged because you don't see anything happening? Do you throw your hands up in the air in despair and give up? I'm the type of person who wants to give it my all. I have exhausted myself at times trying to make things happen on my own. But I have learned I don't have to "do it all on my own". In fact, there are times when we cannot do it on our own.

Many things keep us from moving forward. It might be a bad habit, an addiction, a financial problem, a job loss, a relationship or health issue.  If you haven't run into something that you can't move on your own yet, rest assured, one day you will and you will be prepared because of this post. I've heard a close relative say many times "There's nothing I can do about it," Oh yes there is.

There is a power, a Source, as some call it that is more than willing to help move the mountains in our lives. When there is an obstacle - a mountain if you will - blocking forward progress and it seems like it is insurmountable, there is a simple but POWERFUL thing we can do as children of God to get God to intervene on our behalf.

Before I tell you what it is, I have to tell you that you need to BELIEVE that this technique will work. If you do not have the FAITH to believe it will work, it won't. But - if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, and you know how small a mustard seed is, you can move your mountain.

The key to moving the mountains in our lives, when everything seems hopeless and we're at wits end, is this: START DECLARING VICTORY. Start speaking out what you want to see happen. Here are a few examples:
- "I declare I am financially successful."
- "I declare I am free from this addiction".
- "I declare my child/marriage/health is going to turn around".
- "I declare I am healed from ...."

In other words, we have to start talking like it has already happened. To put it another way, we need to focus more on what we want to see show up in our lives, rather than our current reality. Now don't you scoff. This is the stuff miracles are made from and I'm letting you in on a powerful technique that many people are simply not aware of. There is supernatural power in our words. When we start speaking out words of faith, health, abundance, healing, and freedom, God intervenes. Faith pleases God and He goes to work on our behalf.

When all seems lost, it isn't. When we begin to affirm what we want to see happen in our lives, we set the stage for transformation. It really is quite miraculous. You can read about the many hopeless situations that God has transformed in my book, "The Power of Faith".

How to Live With Loss: the Hope of the Resurrection

It is 4 am. The sun is not up yet but I am. The birds are chirping their love songs already. I can imagine Mary not being able to sleep, walking slowly to the tomb where her best friend, Jesus, was buried. Who is your best friend? Your spouse? Your friend from high school or college? Your mom? How would you feel if they died unexpectedly?

My dad died last year and I know how it feels. Jack was a kind & gentle spirit who loved Jesus and could recite 1 Cor 13 by heart. His passing was quite a shock and a loss to our family. I rejoice knowing he is in heaven, playing golf and dancing with the angels. Perhaps you, too, have suffered a loss.

So it must have been with Mary, when she saw the stone had been rolled away. As she crept into the burial place and saw the empty tomb, she was shocked.

"Where is my, Lord?" she cried out in fear. Do we not all do the same when pain, loss, and tragedy strike our lives? "Where is God in all this?"

Jesus's answer is the same today as it was two thousand years ago.
"I am not here. I have risen."

Jesus conquered the grave. He healed the sick, made the blind to see and the deaf to hear. He cast out demons and performed many miracles. He is still in the miracle-working business today because He is alive!

What miracle would you like to see in your life? What dream or hope have you given up on? As the angel said to Mary, "Fear not" only believe and you will see miracles happen. The choice always remains with us.  Will we be like Thomas or like Mary? Will we walk in fear or faith over our circumstances?

When we walk with Jesus, we don't have to carry our cross alone. As my youngest son recently reminded me of the two sets of footprints that became one in the sand. When we go thru our darkest nights of the soul, as we all do and as Jesus did on Holy Friday, God is merciful. When we don't know where the road ahead leads and we are at our weakest, Jesus carries us.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31).

The walk with Jesus is not always the easy path. The journey to faith is paved with potholes. Yet it always leads us to higher ground. If we are willing to believe, we, too, can conquer our fears, doubts and unbelief, because He lives!

No matter what lies in front of us, we can trust that God has a plan and a purpose for it. No matter how many times we stumble and fall under the weight of our cross, or like Peter, fail and doubt, God is always there to pick us up, dust us off, and place us on solid ground.

As you celebrate this glorious day, whatever your beliefs, I encourage you to give Jesus a try. Jesus, like Coca-Cola, is the real thing. Every other path is a detour. As he revealed himself to Mary, He will reveal himself to you and you, too, will rise up with wings like eagles and soar!

Whatever your dream, follow it! Whatever your passion, live it. Whatever you dream, believe in it!

How to Make Miracles Happen

Funny how even the most mundane situations in life can speak truth to us, isn't it?

This summer, there have been several home repairs and improvements that needed to be taken care of at my house. Being the industrious soul that I am, I endeavored to handle them on my own.

Well. Live and learn. Get help.

This past week, my youngest graciously agreed to assist with my latest adventure - hanging cellular blinds in my office. Now I don't know if you've ever attempted this or not, but let me say, having the right drill bit saves a lot of sweat and hard work. Who knew drywall could be so difficult to screw into?

The instructions that came with the blinds weren't exactly clear either. To make matters worse, when I attempted to try to hang one of the blinds by myself, the whole thing came crashing down and I almost ended up with a broken hand.

After several trips to Home Depot to buy drill bits, we finally had the proper tools. Amazing how much easier it was to get those screws in the wall! But still no success in getting the blinds to stay up. As they fell down time and time again, I watched my son's quick reflex enable him to deftly catch them. Suddenly, I found the whole situation extremely hilarious.

"I'm glad you think this is funny. You try it," he says to me. So up on the desk I climb. Bewildered as to where the thing was actually supposed to hook into, we both stood there and stared at it.

"Get down, I know what to do," he says.

Within minutes, both blinds were up and working perfectly.

"Funny how when you do it right, miracles happen", he says.

I was struck by the truth of that statement; that applies to life, as well. When we do things the right way, miracles happen. Too bad it takes so many attempts to get it right though, isn't it?

Moral of the story, whatever it is you're facing, keep persevering. Keep doing the right thing and sooner or later, you will see a miracle too!

Until next time, keep the faith and keep looking up. And oh, watch out for those blinds!
